Your venue, your way

There is so much to choose from and the park scenery varies from season to season.

Winter weddings look stunning with glistening frost on leaves and atmospheric mist over the lake whilst spring offers us blooming bulbs and the fresh green of newly budding trees. A summer wedding will take advantage of a park in full bloom and a wedding in autumn will have the natural confetti of rich golden, orange and red leaves fluttering down from the trees.

You will see different wildlife through the year from swans and cormorants on the lakes to rabbits and deer in the woods.

Popular hidden gems around the park include the bridge over the stream in the Peace Garden and the blaze of colourful rhododendrons and azaleas arching over the path to Tilgate Lake, also affectionately known by locals as Campbell’s Lake.

There are other smaller lily pad lakes, stunning lawns and mature woodlands where you can find some rare and outstanding Victorian tree specimens on the tree trail. For the adrenaline-seeking couple, park partner Go Ape has its high ropes and Segway adventures.

Whatever the time of year, the lake is a firm favourite. Shimmering sunsets and glistening reflections make for atmospheric memories for your photographer to capture.

Or for something different, animal lovers may want to visit the Nature Centre to take photos with the adorable tapir, Alf, or the fun-loving meerkats, which are a popular and very entertaining attraction! This can be booked as an experience as part of your celebration (after a quick change of clothes to save your beautiful wedding attire from the inquisitive creatures). Alternatively, you could arrange this for the day after the wedding or purchase discounted vouchers to be used at a later date of your choice – your first anniversary, perhaps? If you are arranging a wedding or engagement photo shoot in the park that is not part of a wedding that is booked and paid for, please apply for a filming and photography licence by emailing the Weddings Team.

Wedding and engagement photo shoots: £100+VAT up to one hour and a maximum of 40 guests, then £50+VAT per additional hour.
