About Tilgate Park

Set in more than 200 acres of lakes and ancient woodlands, Tilgate Park is a beautiful place to hold your wedding. Hidden gems around the park include the bridge over the stream in the Peace Garden and the blaze of colourful rhododendrons and azaleas arching over the path to Tilgate Lake. The park also features smaller lily pad lakes, stunning lawns and mature woodlands where you can find some rare and outstanding Victorian tree specimens on our tree trail.

The park scenery varies from season to season. A summer wedding will take advantage of a park in full bloom, with the roses fragrantly sweetening the air around the Walled Garden. Crisp autumnal air turns trees red and adorns the paths with the natural confetti of fallen leaves while winter weddings offer the chance of sparkling frosts or even snow and spring offers blooming bulbs and blossoming trees.

You can see different wildlife through the year from swans and cormorants on the lakes to rabbits and deer in the woods. Whatever the time of year, the lake is a firm favourite. Shimmering sunsets and glistening reflections make for atmospheric memories for your photographer to capture. Visit our photography page to find out more.

Tilgate Park has received a Green Flag Award for 19 consecutive years. This international quality mark for parks and green spaces is testament to the hard work and dedication of our Parks team that make this special park so beautiful year-round.
